Three Sisters Swamp / Black River Kayaking Adventure

Have you ever wanted to paddle the enchanted and ancient Three Sisters Swamp? Join Pender County Parks and Recreation and Mahanaim Adventures as we explore Three Sisters Swamp / Black River. This old swamp contains the 5th oldest stand of trees in the world, some of these trees are over 3000 year old. Some of these old bald cypress tree are big enough for 4 four grown men to put their arms around! This swamp on the Black River is popular and a remote destination that should be on any serious paddlers “Must Do” list. This is a beautiful section of the Black River and if you been on the Black River before, you know of all its sandbars and wildlife. This is a 12 mile paddle (full day kayaking adventure) and is only offered for experienced kayakers! Experienced kayaker is defined as a person having taken at least 5 kayaking trips with Mahanaim Adventures. We will be paddling about 5 to 5.5 hours. This is not a trip where a kayaker can just float; there will be lots of paddling and maneuvering with your kayaks. Plan on bring plenty of water to drink and a sack lunch for this long day of kayaking. We will stop several times to enjoy the sights and trees along the river as well as the sack lunch you bring.
