Happy National Travel & Tourism Week from Pender County Tourism

Each year, National Travel & Tourism Week (NTTW) reminds us of the powerful impact that travel and tourism have on our local communities, our economy, and our quality of life. From May 4-10, we join destinations across the nation in recognizing the important role tourism plays—not just in driving economic growth, but in connecting us to the people, places, and stories that make our communities special.

This year’s theme, “Travel is Essential,” highlights how travel fosters vibrant communities, supports small businesses, creates jobs, strengthens economies, and builds pride in where we live. Here at home, tourism is more than just visitors—it’s neighbors supporting neighbors, entrepreneurs building dreams, and traditions that are passed down through generations.

During National Travel & Tourism Week, we celebrate our attractions, natural beauty, small towns, beaches, parks, restaurants, shops, and all the faces behind them who make every visitor feel welcome. It's a moment to reflect on the ways travel inspires exploration and discovery, whether it's across the country or right in our own backyard.

Let's come together this week to champion the spirit of travel, celebrate the hardworking individuals in the tourism industry, and invite others to experience the places we’re proud to call home.

The travel industry is essential to the success of every industry and will continue to be a critical part of Pender County’s economy, development, and workforce.

Travel is an economic powerhouse for every state and destination across the country, with an economic output of $2.9 trillion, supporting 15 million American jobs. Travel spending supports vibrant and safe communities, generating in-state and local tax revenue to support essential services, such as education, emergency response, public safety, and more.
