Take the Turkey Trek Hike, Nov.

Take the Turkey Trek at Miller’s Pond Park

ROCKY POINT- Have you ever called a wild turkey? It’s almost Thanksgiving and it’s time to learn how to call a turkey.

Join Pender County Tourism and Pender County Parks and Recreation for the November family fun hike in celebration of the NC Year of the Trail and learn to gobble like a turkey along the way.

The Turkey Trek hike will begin in the Miller’s Pond Park parking lot, 12762 US 117, in Rocky Point. Meet at 4 p.m. on Nov. 14.

Hikers should bring water and wear comfortable shoes.

The Year of the Trail is a statewide celebration to introduce North Carolinians to state trails. Pender County and its partners are sponsoring one family-fun hike per month.

The next Year of the Trail hike is the final hike. Mrs. Claus will lead the Twinkle Light Hike in Historic Burgaw on Dec. 8. Meet at the Burgaw Christmas Tree on the Courthouse Square at 5:30 p.m. There will be sweet surprises along the way.

All Year of the Trail hikes are free.
