Hometown Hollywood Film Tour

BURGAW – Pender County Tourism announced the launch of Pender County Film Tours with the Hometown Hollywood Film Tour in Downtown Burgaw.
 
The Pender County Tourism department created the Hometown Hollywood Film Tour, a walking tour based on the locations from well-known films and television series filmed within Pender County focusing on the Historic Downtown Area of Burgaw, the Courthouse Square, and familiar storefronts.
 
“We are excited to introduce this Downtown Burgaw Walking Film Tour” states Olivia Dawson, Pender County Tourism. “Pender County and the Town of Burgaw have been popular locations sought out for many films and television series.”
 
“The film industry has always been attracted to this charming town. Burgaw is the ‘Town that Hollywood Loves’,” states Tammy Proctor, Pender County Tourism Director. “Walking around the Historic Downtown Burgaw area, you will find familiar sites and buildings that were backdrops in many well-known films, television series, and commercials.”
 
Pender County and the Town of Burgaw’s shops, parks, schools, street corners, courthouse square, and more are backdrops for dozens of your favorite television and movie productions. Movies would include Stephen King’s (1985) "Silver Bullet", “The Summer of Ben Tyler” (1996), "I Know What You Did Last Summer" (1997), “Freedom Song” (2000), “The Runaway” (2000), “The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood” (2002), “My Life in Idlewild” (2004),  "The Jailhouse" (2009), "Tammy" (2014), including the television series "Revolution" (2012), & "Under the Dome" (2013), also based on a Stephen King's novel.
 
Many movies and television series have been filmed throughout Pender County including Burgaw, Watha, Atkinson, St. Helena, Hampstead, Scotts Hill, Topsail Beach, and Surf City.
