St. Helena

St. Helena

Developed by Hugh MacRae, the community of St. Helena was named for an Italian queen. The first settlers who came to St. Helena in 1903 were from northern Italy and soon immigrants from other countries followed.

In 1988, St. Helena was incorporated and became the largest town geographically in Pender County.

Though the original residents of St. Helena have passed and many of their children have moved away, the draw of the town is the same today as it was in it’s early years. For people looking for large lots to build homes or raise horses, St. Helena is the perfect place to call home. The community continues to grow but maintains the rural areas the first settlers found when they arrived to the area.
