The trail features locations, events, and people that had a great impact on the development of Pender County and in some cases the United States of America. This will be a forever-evolving project that will educate our community and visitors on the important but almost forgotten history of generations of Pender County African American residents and their ancestors.

Nestled in 11 acres of a southern pine and hardwood forest, Ash's Japanese Maple Nursery contains over 80 varieties of Japanese Maples from 2-30 years old. The nursery resembles a botanical garden with its meandering grass paths and rows of trees. Sections of the Nursery are in high forest shade for a pleasant walk in the summer months though other sections are in full sun. The Nursery's specialty is the styling or shaping of dissectum or lace leaf maples into artistic bonsai styles from 3-8 feet high and 10 feet across. The Nursery grounds also contain a Japanese Garden with a large koi pond, running stream and Japanese style garden house.

Harbour Village Marina is a private marina located on the Intracoastal Waterway at mile marker #267, behind Topsail Island. (N34'23.173, W77'38.251) The marina offers its members the use of a boat ramp, free parking, a picnic area, and floating dock facilities. These facilities are for the use of members or guests accompanied by members, only. The marina lounge is handicap accessible and offers both gas and diesel fuels, showers, lounge, 30/50 amp power connections, and pump-out services. Transient boaters are welcome, but reservations are required. Please contact the Harbour Master for details. Both fuel and pump-out services are available to the general public.

Holly Shelter Game Land consists of 75,120 acres of land. Primary hunting species are: deer, bear, turkey, fox, rabbit, raccoon, squirrel, quail, dove and waterfowl. Primary fish species are: catfish, largemouth bass and sunfish. Camping allowed in designated areas only. Featured on the MST in Seg. 15 located at https://mountainstoseatrail.org/segment/15/. Walking and Hiking are allowed year round but the gates are open sporadically depending on local state wildlife representatives. Gates stay open during the hunting season and regulations vary. Vehicles are allowed to drive the designated roads during hunting season and if they gates are open but be aware of time constraints. The NC Wildlife Resources Commission may close the gates as they see fit depending on conditions or maintenance. If you walk or hike during hunting season we highly recommend the use of bright colored clothing and emphasize being aware of your surroundings. The golf course is on a 178-acre property located in the beautiful community of Hampstead, NC. Our goal is for you to have an enjoyable outing, "FUN GOLF!" Since employees from the brewery are playing golf for the first time we have arranged a diver to retrieve the balls from the ponds. So don't worry about hitting a ball into the water, we need more driving range balls anyway. The venue needs a lot of love and Ironclad will be performing renovations in phases over the next few years. Our team has worked diligently to upgrade and improve the property. While improvements to the venue will continue, we will soon be completing phase I and opening the Driving Range and Front 9 of the course. Extending 850 feet into the Atlantic Ocean, the Jolly Roger Pier has long been an area landmark known not only for its superb fishing, but also as a great place to stroll. The pier is fully lit at night and an evening stroll is a tradition for many generations of Topsail vacationers. For the expert or novice fisherman, the Pier has a fully stocked tackle shop, with all bait and tackle for pier, surf, sound, and offshore fishing. Rod rentals, ice, snacks, domestic and imported beer, and other beverages are also available. The tackle shop also carries a complete line of beach necessities, from sunscreen and toiletries, to Jolly Roger branded hats and t-shirts. Our staff is a great source of local information and lore, and we're open early and late for your convenience. Next door is our Oceanfront Motel and don’t forget to grab a bite to eat at our grill.

Osgood Canal Greenway and Urban Trail is a 2.2 mile loop of asphalt and concrete walking trails in and around the central portion of the town limits. The trail follows the Osgood Canal through town and offers walks through wooded areas along the canal, through urban areas in the downtown, connects to the schools located in town and offers the convenience of both passive parks and playground parks along the way. Pender County Tourism announces a Blueberry Trail created to lead you to fresh blueberries, blueberry fields, downtown shops, eateries, history, and more. July is National Blueberry Month and Pender County is home to many blueberry farms, making us one of the largest growing locations for blueberry producers.
Pender County Tourism created a new trail that highlights fresh blueberries, points of interest to Pender County's blueberry culture, and places to shop for fantastic Blueberry merchandise, and homemade favorites. Pender County is home to everything blueberry, Annually, during the blueberry season, typically from May to July, Pender County produces millions of berries that are sold to businesses, residents, and visitors by the pints, pounds, or flats.
Pender County and the Town of Burgaw are home to the North Carolina Blueberry Festival, founded in 2003 and held annually the third weekend in June. The festival is a premier event for Pender County and the Town of Burgaw, attracting more than 50,000 visitors. In addition to celebrating our Blueberry Heritage, the festival hosts the Annual Blueberry Pancake Breakfast each February, there is the NC Blueberry Scholarship Pageant, and the Annual New Year’s Eve Blueberry Drop. Special thanks to all Town of Burgaw downtown merchants, The North Carolina Blueberry Festival, Pender County Public Library, and the Pender Historical Society for helping put this together.

Spinnaker Surf Shop is a local family-owned store established in 1988 located in the heart of Surf City, on Topsail Island where you can rent a surfboard for $20 for 24 hours. The store is less than 100 yards from the ocean's edge where surfers and swimmers are free to swim anywhere except under the fishing pier. As you cross over the bridge onto the island, you can see the Jolly Roger flag flying high above the store during hours of operation. When you've had enough sun on the beach just walk over the dune and chill in the shade of the Arcade at Spinnakers and enjoy pool tables, foosball games, and a large video game selection.
